Many of the challenges we experience are often explained as personal problems. But I believe a different question is worth asking:
What if the real issue lies in the systems, assumptions, and roles surrounding us?
Through essays and analysis, I examine the invisible structures behind everyday experiences—from family relationships and workplace culture to language, technology, and society.
Rather than simply asking “What happened?”, I am more interested in asking:
- Why does this pattern exist?
- What assumptions keep it alive?
- How do language, culture, and social norms shape the way we think?
- How can individuals navigate these systems without losing themselves?
About Me
My name is Hatsumi.
I studied linguistics and now spend my time writing, building websites, and exploring ideas across language, psychology, culture, and technology.
Throughout my life, I often found myself questioning environments that valued conformity over individuality. Whether in family relationships, education, or the workplace, I repeatedly noticed the same underlying patterns: people were often treated according to their roles rather than who they were as individuals.
Living abroad expanded my perspective and reinforced something I had long suspected: many problems that appear personal are deeply shaped by culture, language, and social systems.
Over time, my interest shifted from isolated experiences to the structures behind them. Instead of searching only for solutions, I became interested in understanding the mechanisms that create these patterns in the first place.
That curiosity became the foundation of this blog.
How I Think
Most of my writing follows a similar process.
An everyday experience often becomes the starting point—not because the experience itself is extraordinary, but because it reveals something larger.
My process typically looks like this:
- Observe an experience, question, or contradiction.
- Identify the recurring pattern.
- Examine the cultural, linguistic, or social structures behind it.
- Build a framework for understanding.
- Explore practical ways individuals can respond while preserving their autonomy.
I am less interested in telling people what to think than in offering ways to think more clearly about the systems surrounding them.
